The room is noisy so it is better for a boisterous group than for serious conversation or whispering sweet nothings.Ī few years ago, I visited the Fogo de Chao in Chicago and have been waiting to try the one in Indianapolis. Only mild complaint was that the caipirinha (a minty drink like a mojito, made with Brazilian cane liquor) was too sweet. The dessert list is also impressive, although I did not have any. AFter dinner they come around with an aperitif cart. We were with a very large group and the waitstaff handled it beautifully. You can take a break and then resume eating if you want.

Service is very rapid and while you are showing a green signal they will come by every few minutes. They also bring sides of fried bananas, polenta, and a vegetable. Don't fill up on too much salad beforehand. Choices include various cuts of beef, pork, chicken, lamb and sausage. When you have had enough, you signal by turning your coaster over so the red shows instead of the green. Then they bring skewers of meat to the table and you get slices or chunks cut and put on your plate.

It follows the Brazilian charruscaria formula. If you don't like red meat, it isn't for you. None of this will make a difference to management though - the place was packed at 7pm on a Wednesday, and the owners are clearly on to a winning formula here. Probably worth going once for the experience, but I prefer my meat in more manageable proportions, and no more than twice per year. We noticed that most of the tables had parties of burly men - this says it all. It's interesting that they don't openly advertise the prices on their web site.

So for two adults and two kids it came to $212 without a tip, and I don't think we got our money's worth in terms of quality of food it's really all about quantity. It is also expensive - $46.50 per person, half price for kids, dessert is extra. On the negative side: the meat is excellent, but the salad bar is bland. On the positive side: great (communal) service and a colorful experience, with waiters racing around carrying their spears of meat, like hunters with their kill. Circle Center Mall parking is a few blocks away and worth the walk if the weather is good.) I liked the place/food well enough to go back, but the manager's attitude and unacceptable response will most likely keep us from going back to this location.Īs most other reviewers have already said, this is for carnivores only.

Other points mention: It's very crowded and noisy in there the wait is long if you don't have a reservation (sometimes even if you do!) no free on-site parking (parking garage across the street is $5 for 2 hours, $10 for would be difficult to finish eating in under 2 hours.

So expect a great meal, superb food, a full belly at the end, top-notch service.and a real you-know-what of a manager who would rather have his customers be really upset over a surprise bill as long as he sneaks some more mony out of you, than to have his customers mildly put off by the no-free-refill policy upfront when they're still able to make an informed decision. His response: "Well, customers will get upset anyway if we tell them before they order that refills aren't free, so." he stared at us, shrugged, said "OK?" and then smuggly walked away. We talked with the manager when we got our bill and suggested they should mention this upfront, to avoid customers getting upset. However, we were put off that no one mentioned this bit of information, from the guy that took our order to the several people who asked to refill his glass. Our mistake for assuming drinks were refillable. Much to our surprise, our bill was $12 higher than expected.for the 4 refill glasses he had (and they weren't big glasses). It brought a $45 meal down to an affordable $30, which includes a small-portioned choice of dessert, full salad bar, appetizers that are refilled throughout the dinner and of course, lots and lots of delicious meat! NEGATIVES: This 2nd time we visited, my husband opted to get a Coke. It's pretty expensive, so I highly recommend their Restaurant Week/Devour Downtown specials that come around a couple times a year. POSITIVES: This was the 2nd time I've been to Fogo's and I personally love the whole experience.
